The Sunday television program that ran a powerful story two years ago featuring child abuse within JW's in Australia is due to screen a follow up program on Sunday 29th May 2005. The first show earned the reporter an award in New York for investigative journalism.
"Graham also won a New York Festivals medal in 2004 for his Sunday investigation into child abuse in the Jehovah's Witnesses."
The production team found that unlike the first show where getting people to talk and go on camera was like pulling teeth they were overwhelmed with JW's, wanting to talk. It is well known JW's do not like bad publicity because it might stumble their bible studies, weak ones or cause trouble with unbelieving family members. However regardless of how people view shows like this it is important to remember public awareness is the best defense against child abuse.
